What is pelvic floor rehabilitation?

Cigonia, a pioneering and innovative clinic, concentrates its expertise in pelvic floor rehabilitation (physiotherapy), pediatrics, osteopathy, sexology, psychology, acupuncture, perinatal care and massage therapy.

Although very common, perineal problems in women, men, and children often remain in the shadows. Their consequences in daily life are often devastating.

Pelvic floor rehabilitation aims to identify physical function deficiencies and disabilities, related to the neuromusculoskeletal system, that are associated with or at the origin of these problems, to determine a treatment plan and  to carry out interventions to normalize dysfunctions, particularly at the level of the pelvic floor. Pelvic floor rehabilitation therefore participates in the treatment of various conditions through interventions in the field of physiotherapy.

Abdominal and pelvic rehabilitation is closely related to perineal rehabilitation, focusing more specifically on the different musculoskeletal problems of the pelvis and abdominal muscles, including coccyx and sacrum pain, abdominal diastasis, and the various consequences of surgery, trauma, and injury. In association with a perineal approach, abdominal and pelvic rehabilitation corrects discomfort in the abdominal and pelvic region.

Testimonials

Since the beginning of my sexual life, I suffered from excruciating pain during intercourse. I was really discouraged. I was recommended to Cigonia by my family physician and I am so happy to have had the privilege of meeting the professionals who helped me with all of this. I now have much more ease in my relationships and I loved the follow-up with my physiotherapist!

25-year-old woman, Magog, Perineal rehabilitation

I won’t hide that I was a little embarrassed to consult for pelvic floor rehabilitation for urine leaks that appeared after my prostatectomy. Already I had to face the idea of having prostate cancer, to which was added the shame of having urine leakage. The physiotherapist I met put me in great confidence and my condition has improved enormously. I no longer wear male sanitary protection and it really changed my life! A big thank you to the whole team!

67-year-old man, Sherbrooke, Perineal rehabilitation

I come from afar, but I found here the competence I needed. Professionals who helped me regain my life without pain. It had been a long time since I had lost hope of being able to resume my sports without perineal pain and without discomfort. I wish this beautiful team a long life.
